Progression of Sepsis

Progression of Sepsis

The cross-sectional view of a blood vessel and the anterior view of the organs displaying the progression of sepsis. Sepsis transpires when bacteria gains access to the bloodstream and vasodilation occurs, resulting in the leakage of fluid from the vessel. The blood flow is then impaired due to the overall loss of fluid, leading to the development of septic shock due to decreased blood flow to the organs. Eventually, this results in multi-organ dysfunction including respiratory distress and heart failure.
