Laparoscopic Hiatal Hernia Repair with Gastric Fundoplication
This medical exhibit shows the anterior view of the abdomen undergoing a laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair with gastric fundoplication. In this procedure, the reduction of the hernia is completed by pulling the stomach back down into the abdomen. Mesh is then placed around the esophagus to reinforce the hiatal closure. The fundus is then wrapped around the esophagus to create the fundoplication. Lastly, the fundal wrap is sutured into place to complete the Nissen fundoplication.
