This airline computer animation shows the altitude changes while on a flight path to Perth (Qantas 72). The plane's air data inertial reference units (ADIRU) was sending data spikes on the plane position that led to a false trajectory correction by the autopilot. The pilot of the passenger airplane was able to correct the position before another nosedive occurred three minutes later. The pair of sudden, uncommanded pitch-down maneuvers caused severe injuries to the passengers and crew.
